Understanding 7-OH and Kratom Dependence

If you are having difficulty stopping 7-OH (7-hydroxymitragynine) or kratom, you are not alone. Dependence can develop over time and may lead to withdrawal symptoms, cravings, and challenges when trying to quit. Kratom and 7-OH products affect opioid receptors in the brain, which means regular use can lead to physical dependence. Concentrated 7-OH products, including tablets, extracts, shots, and gummies, may carry a higher risk of dependence due to their stronger effects. Our clinic provides individualized treatment for people experiencing 7-OH dependence and kratom dependence, with care plans based on each patient's unique needs.

How Buprenorphine May Help

Buprenorphine is a medication commonly used to treat opioid use disorder. Because kratom and 7-OH interact with opioid receptors, a qualified clinician may determine that buprenorphine is an appropriate treatment option for certain patients.

When clinically appropriate, buprenorphine may help:

  • Reduce withdrawal symptoms
  • Lower cravings
  • Support stability during recovery
  • Help patients move away from repeated 7-OH or kratom use

Treatment timing and dosage are carefully determined by a medical provider to ensure a safe and personalized approach.

What Treatment Looks Like

Treatment for 7-OH and kratom dependence begins with a thorough evaluation of your health history, substance use, symptoms, and personal goals.

Your treatment plan may include:

  • Individualized buprenorphine treatment when appropriate
  • Ongoing monitoring and follow-up visits
  • Support for managing cravings and withdrawal symptoms

  • Do you accept insurance or provide payment plans?

We do NOT accept personal or commercial health insurance. Although we do provide a Prior Authorization for your insurance to pay for your monthly prescription, we will also provide a super bill, which you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement.

Unfortunately, we cannot offer payment plans with this program. Payment is due at the time services are rendered. Only cash or credit will be accepted; no checks.

  • When can I start treatment and how often do I come in?

If you are in severe withdrawal, you can start taking your medication right away.  If not, then you must wait to avoid precipitated withdrawal.

In the first month, we see you for your initial intake assessment, and then you return in 1 week for a follow-up evaluation.  Then we see you one time a month every month thereafter.

  • How long does outpatient treatment last?

There is not a one size fits all approach for addiction therapy.  Studies show that the average length of time in a MAT program is 12-24 months.  There are a lot of factors that dictate your treatment duration and we can customize a plan that best fits your goals.

  • Do I need to do counseling?

Your recovery treatment program will be much more successful when you couple it with counseling.  We will give you local resources to help you find a good option. But it is not mandatory for our program.
